Wisconsin State Meet 2017 Recap

Davre sweeps 800-1,600-3,200 in Wisconsin

Cami Davre of Whitefish Bay won her seventh, eight and ninth state track titles at the Wisconsin state meet. She won the Division 1 800 and 1,600 for the fourth straight year and added the 3,200 meters.  

Davre's triple was 2:12.07, 4:56.76 and 10:53.67. 

Junior Kenneth Bednarek of Rice Lake lowered his own all-time state record in the 400 meters in the Division 2 meet with 46.82 seconds.  He also won the 200 in 21.61.

Also in Division 2, Kyra Arendt of Bloomer won her third triple jump crown and also broke the all-time state record with a jump of 40-8.25.  

Brooke Jaworski of Wausau West broke the Division 1 meet record to win her second straight title in the 400 with  53.71. The sophomore also won the 200 for the second straight season with 24.57.

Finn Gessner of Madison La Follette won the 3,200 meters in 9:06.24. Tannor Wagner of Ashwaubenon won the 1,600 in 4:15.77, with Gessner fifth. 

Cordell Tinch of Bay Port set a meet record in the Division 1 boys triple jump with 49-2.25. He also won the long jump (24-2.25) and was second in both the 110 hurdles and high jump.

Oconomowoc won the boys 4x800 relay in 7:45.88 and Kettle Moraine took the 4x400 in 3:18.10.

Austin Glynn of Onalaska won a high-powered showdown with sophomore Andrew Stone of Fond Du Lac 62-3.50 to 62-1 in the shot put.

Baraboo senior Josie Schaefer swept the girls throws, taking the shot put with 47-8 and the discus with 163-8.

Sophomore Makayla Jackson ran 12.25 into a 3.1 headwind to win the girls 100 meters and also spearheaded wins for Milwaukee King in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. 

Armoni Brown of Waukesha South won the girls long jump with 19-8.50 and Eva Laun-Smith of Beloit Memorial took the triple jump with 39-10.50.

Emily Scott from Kimberly jumped 5-8 to win the high jump.

Hamilton edged Arrowhead in the 4x400 with a winning time of 3:51.66.

Also in Division 2, Tess Keyzers of Little Chute won her third straight shot put title and she broke the meet record with 47-8.50. 

Ben Dunkelberger of Lake Mills won the long jump (23-0) and triple jump (47-0). Luke Bailey of Xavier ran 9:12.78 to win the 3,200 meters. Ja'Cey Simmons of Milwaukee Lutheran repeated as Division 2 champion in the 100 and 200.

In Division 3, Caiden Haake of Alma-Pepin threw 181-0 to win the discus and Noah Zastrow of Spencer cleared 15-4 to win the pole vault.  

Faith Lubner of Reedsville won her fourth Division 3 titles in both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

Nicole Mikula of Shell Lake won the 100, 200 and long jump.

Joe Schubert of Marquette, a wheelchair athlete, became a four-time winner of the 100 meters and also won the 400 and 800. Audrey Kleiss-Garcia won three track events and the shot put in wheelchair girls competiton.

Division 1 - Kimberly boys 41 points, Milwaukee King girls 58

Division 2 - Xavier boys 44, Wittenberg-Birnamwood girls 40

Division 3 - Coleman boys 43, Algoma girls 44
